My brother would loves this
Though he prefers steam engines, this one looks special
He would ask about the horse on the front and point it out with excitement
“Three headlights” he’d shout
I’m going to take this train
Take this train to meet my oldest friend
We used to race
We used to play
He showed me how to do oh so many things
Trains still get me excited
I hope they always make me think of him
I’m slowing walking; walking to my new destiny.
After many years of wondering
I finally know my final destination.
I left traces in my past,
But now it’s time to move on.
It’s my time to let go and start the new chapter
Of my very life.
As I carry my future in a suitcase,
I begin to wonder;
Where will I really be placed?
Finally! Schooling is all done. My parents were happy but holding back tears. I’m off to make my way in the world.
Carrying my world in this case,
blisters turn to calluses.
Once delicate hands
thicken, harden
with every step
away from and toward.
