One-Handed Catch by M.J. Auch
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
Loved Norm and feel blessed to know so many students who have Norm’s compassion for himself and for others. It is beautiful to read about a family communicating, noticing each other’s struggles and triumphs as they imagine their family with one less hand (I say it with love not to be crass). I believe literature is as much about representing what is as representing what can be — helping us find the words and imprinting in our minds what we’d like to be, to do, to say. M. J. Auch does this. In the audio version, there is an interview with the author and her husband, who inspired Norm’s story and one-handed catch — listen.
