Join Me at the NCTE 2024 Annual Convention! 🌟
I’m thrilled to announce my upcoming speaking engagements at the NCTE 2024 Annual Convention! This year, I’ll be sharing insights and exploring themes of hope, healing, and humanizing educational practices through various sessions. Whether you’re passionate about teaching, poetry, or embracing progressive literacy, there’s something for everyone. Here’s a quick overview of where you can find me during the conference.
Bring a tea or coffee to our meet-up before the Kate McKinnon event on Friday at 7am just outside/hallway of the event.
Please share where you will be in the comments so that we can support one another and maybe share a hug and chat.

📍 Room 205C, Roundtable Session: Nurturing Multimodal-Multigenre Choices for a Joyful Community: In this chat, I will share a protocol for developing daily invitations for student writing that intentionally explore various modes and genres of writing and the authorial decisions writers make. We will practice the protocol and then see examples for healthy assessment options for grading this independent writing standard that will cultivate a compassion-agentive community of writers.

Session: The Three-Grammars Framework: Uncovering the Plural in Grammars for Humanizing Composition Practices
📍 Room 157B, Individual Presentation: Participants will first explore a three-grammars framework and the affordance this approach offers teacher and student writing. These explorations will lead to a workshop of designing humanizing writing units such as flash biography, multimodal how-tos, and research talks intended for specific impacts on audiences that celebrate rich language practices.
