Inspiration: Today you’re encouraged to play “connect the words.” What this means is that you will see a list of words, and you must string them together to create a narrative poem (tell a story).
- cry, grip, red, box, cord
- wonder, silver, border, track, glimpse, web
- float, song, frame, balloon, calm, coral
- chair, shadow, dial, repair, candle, cup, yellow
- path, marking, window, light, sky, white
- fear, snow, gray, sky, glow, footprints, run
- courage, frame, sharp, cold, metallic, wire, cerulean blue
- rise, stage, cries, thunder, stone, path, purple
- water, sleep, blue, fragile, reach, late
- book, scratch, far, wonder, wooden, end
Guidance: For example, if you choose #5, you’ll create a way for path, marking, window, sky, light, and white to come together in your poem. This is a creative exercise and is meant to be fun and a little challenging. You may discover a beautiful story emerges or some sense out of nonsense. Enjoy. Of course, you are welcome to poem in any way you choose. Play with the line breaks and consider repetition of a line, words, or phrases.
The girl balls up and cry’s gripping the red box which had the cord, the way to unplug herself from the world. it only takes one pull.
Cry, grip, red, box, cord
The boy pulls the cord
The boy has a grip on the red box
The red box pops open
The boy starts to cry
book, scratch, far, wonder, wooden, end
The book was in the wooden table that was to far from me
i wanted to read it but i wonder why the table has a lot of scratches
The end of the day i ask my mom and she told me that it came like that
water, sleep, blue, fragile, reach, late
I run on the field waiting to get water break
I go home feeling exhausted just fell quickly to sleep
I wake up seeing a blue sky but i felt fragile i tried to reach my phone so i can check what time it is
I was late to football practice and i knew i am will be more sore than i really am.
as i am gracefully reading my book
i hear a loud scratch on the door, it sounds coming from far away far away
ï wonder what it is”i ask myself inside
as i am getting to the end of my book i start to make me some coffee in my wooden cup
done i yell with happiness
The people run with fear
Leaving footprints
The gray sky
Glows announcing the fear
8)
Its thunder storming outside,
The rain is so hard that it sounds like stones falling on the roof,
I am on the wrong path for life right now,
The path is like a stage,
I am in a stage that i am going through so many things that i can even handle,
The sky is purple and all you can see it the light from the curtains from the thunder,
I am in the while my sister cries,
But soon i will rise and conquer all the problems i have.
6) fear, snow, gray, sky, glow, footprints, run
the winter just left which means
no more snow
or gray skies of fear
No more snow footprints
now just the glow of the sun and
kids running around
1)
I cry as I grip the long, red cord
I stop and wonder “why would he do this”
I look up
watch the men as they slowly lower the large black box into a hole in the ground
Funerals are the worst
Following the path
Marking my way just in case I get lost
I look off into the distance
I can see the window of my house
The bright sky was beautiful
It was so light it almost seemed white
I like your poem because it sounds like a beautiful start to a story. My evidence to back this up is where you said,” Following the path
Marking my way just in case I get lost
I look off into the distance “
fear, snow, gray, sky, glow, footprints, run
i see some footprints in the snow
it was a cloudy gray day the sky was all dark
i started to run home in a lot of fear
i got home and all i saw was a green glow stick and nobody was home
Water,blue,fragile
Deep blue water
can see my reflection
when I touch it, it ripples
late at night
water, sleep, blue, fragile, reach, late
The blue water
looks fragile
late at night
then i go to reach my reflection
and ripples come
When you said, “The blue water looks fragile, then I go to reach my reflection and ripples come,”‘ I felt like I could imagine you reaching for your reflection as the water is sitting, looking fragile.
Bright, Yellow, Hot, Round
It was bright in the after noon
and the sun hit my eyes
what a beautiful today
It was hot enough to go take a swim.
i like the way you connected the words to summer!
water, sleep, blue, fragile, reach, late
It was late at night
And the blue misty water seemed fragile as it slowly moved upwards on my window
People were asleep
In their houses by the ocean
water, sleep, blue, fragile, reach, late
On a late summer night
I reach for my beach towel
Walking slowly down to the water
Picking up small fragile sea shells
As I lay on the beach
I start to sleep watching the blue waves come up on the shore
fear, snow, gray, sky, glow, footprints, run
I see footprints in the snow
it’s a cloudy gray night
I see a weird glow coming from a circular shaped object
I run in fear
i can relate to the part “I see footprints in the snow” because i actually wrote something similar to this
keep going
don´t give
will be here for you
is what everybody said
everybody left
but i kept going
Giving up
Get’s you no where
Makes you a loser
Giving up
Bad
skies,blue,clouds,moon,thunder
blue skies get darker
moon rise shine
thunder hitting harder
moon gets coverd
and the sky hover
as i boom through the night
me never being so freight
as my pillow helps me tremble
rise, stage, cries, thunder, stone, path, purple
The moon will soon rise,
thunder crashes,
the stone path leads onward,
the sky darkens to a purple,
bird cries can be heard,
but where,
where is the end?
book, scratch, far, wonder, wooden, end
When I sat in my wooden house
I couldn’t stop wondering
how far down in to another persons
can a book take you
it never scratches the surface
it will bring you from beginning to end
wonder, silver, border, track, glimpse, web
I wonder if I can see a track covered with a silver glimpse of the web around the border!!!!!!
dragon ball, dragon ball z, dragon ball gt, dragon ball super
i like them all
What A Day ???
It was 2014 when I found out she was gone I saw her in the coffin
The skies were grey it was raining there were tears it was a lot of water at once
It looked like she was asleep but the only thing I wished for was that I was asleep and that this was a dream and that I can wake p from it any second
I wanted the sky to be blue but no it was even sadder that the skies were grey because for me that meant that she did not deserve to be gone
The coffin was fragile and I did not wanna lean on it
I wanted to reach to touch her but it was to late she was gone already all the time we had together and now I wanted to touch her the day she was gone
fear, snow, gray, sky, glow, footprints, run
the fear overtakes me
as i run away leaving only
footprints in the snow
but the sky is a glow
and all i see is gray
what a frightening day
I can relate to when you said “what a frightening day” because I really don’t like walking home in the snow and I hate having to go outside and walk through the slush.
Awesome poem! I like how you kept what was going on a secret, but put in enough description so we could imagine what’s happening ourselves.
