Welcome to day one!
Today’s inspiration: What is the best part of you? Write a descriptive poem about your favorite part of you. Here are a few bullet points to get you started.
- describe what your best part looks like — size, color, shape, texture
- tell what your best part allows you to do that you enjoy
- state the words, the best part of me, somewhere in your poem
Of course, you are welcome and encouraged to write anything you wish no matter the length, the inspiration, the rhyme, or the seeming nonsensical-ness of it. Just post it in the comment section below.
Sparkling in the sunlight when life is good
Flashing like lightening when anger abounds
Piercing the soul like a sword that goes
right through you
Pools of blue that melt like glaciers when
life gets hard
So much emotion
-darkness and light-
No secrets are kept in these
traitors of mine
But most people agree
My eyes are the
Best part of me.
The best part of me is my heart,
I am a very forgiving person with any given part.
I will always love and cherish the memories I made,
yet my heart will break for those who haven’t stayed.
My heart has been broken, shattered and betrayed through it all,
but this never leave my heart to crumble and fall.
So beautiful, Sky. “Heart broken” but never “crumble.” Our hearts are resilient!
The Best Part of Me is my smile.
I’m a lively person with tons of soul.
I sometimes wonder what life would be like without my smile with my smile I fill a room of many people.
Sometimes my smile may come and go,but underneath me there’s that bright light of happiness.
Love how you talk about the smile and the soul together. Some people say that our eyes are the window to our soul, but I think the smile is.
The best part of me is my heart.
It beats faster when I am passionate about ideas I long to share;
It aches when I lose someone that I love.
It radiates joy when I see my people reaching their highest potential;
It sings when I reach my highest potential
and…
It breaks when I witness hatred, bigotry, intolerance and selfishness.
I do not intimately know its size, color, shape or texture.
I cannot see my heart although I clearly see the hearts of others.
My heart is the best part of me because I have learned to give pieces of it away.
When I give it away, it comes resounding back to me, regenerating its size.
Without showing my heart, I would not be me.
I love the literal and figurative features of your heart. We so need hearts like yours that “radiate joy.”
Love the line….
When I give it away, it comes resounding back to me, regenerating its size.
A blend
of mom and dad,
gray
with an inner ring of gold,
they speak
more than my mouth.
Widening,
narrowing,
entrance to memories
exit for feelings.
Tears
fears
confusion
joy
So much revealed,
yet so much hiding,
behind
the best part of me.
The hiding fascinate me…do you keep it hidden or has it yet to be uncovered? And the line..”inner ring of gold”” — beautiful.
Keep it hidden…
Lips curl up
Eyes widen
Glistening white
Beaming
A crease appears
On my right cheek
Only until my lips
Touch again
The best part of me
Comes and goes
Fades with darkness
But never loses its way
The beginning with glistening and the ending with “fades” — so much movement in this poem. So glad you are in the challenge!
